Malcolm Dawson writes…..after fielding an unchanged starting XI for six straight games Sam made nine changes for this one. A chance to say goodbye for some and an opportunity for others to show that they can push for a place in next season’s squad. We did alright I thought, had two good goals wrongly ruled out for offside and conceded a dubious penalty. Thankfully it didn’t matter. Pete Sixsmith was there and sends us his instant 7 word verdict from the party atmosphere at Vicarage Road.

Debatable decisions from a Kevin Friend led officiating team cost Sunderland points, shock! Er…no…no shock at all. Surely the time has come to demand this man referees our games no longer?!
2 good goals ruled out! The margins weren’t even close! Luckily nothing was decided by the incompetence on show, and we could still laugh at the Mags believing their result today is somehow significant.
