Jake: ‘ha’;way lads, prove to Citeh we’re not 5-goal rollovers like Monaco, Huddersfield and West Ham. Back to 1-0 to us?’

Jake’s caption sums up the prevailing thought. Why cannot we go back to the time we regarded a visit from Man City as a 1-0 home banker?

I have been downbeat at ESPN about our chances, both for Sunday afternoon’s game and in the relegation battle.

The rearranged fixtures list means we cannot seriously expect to be off bottom place come March 31, let alone out of the bottom three,  with only two games to play before then.

But anything is possible. Good results against City and Burnley, by which I mean four or six points, would lift morale to as high as it’s been all season. We’d need it, though, with five, six or seven matches to play in April.

Ha’way the Lads – let’s at least give it a fight. Who knows? We could reach mid-May wondering how we managed another great escape.

The prize Guess the Score is at http://salutsunderland.com/2017/03/safc-v-manchester-city-prize-guess-the-score-win-and-help-bradleys-fight/. Only entries there will count. though you can naturally discuss our prospects here, too.

And an outstanding Who are You? interview appears at http://salutsunderland.com/2017/03/manchester-city-who-are-you-roker-park-veteran-says-our-times-up/. The interviewee, Craig McGinty, is Citeh through and through but has fond memories of watching Benno, Marco et al at Roker Park while studying in Sunderland.

Check it all out and keep the faith.
