Jake’s caption sums up the prevailing thought. Why cannot we go back to the time we regarded a visit from Man City as a 1-0 home banker?

I have been downbeat at ESPN about our chances, both for Sunday afternoon’s game and in the relegation battle.

The rearranged fixtures list means we cannot seriously expect to be off bottom place come March 31, let alone out of the bottom three,  with only two games to play before then.

But anything is possible. Good results against City and Burnley, by which I mean four or six points, would lift morale to as high as it’s been all season. We’d need it, though, with five, six or seven matches to play in April.

Ha’way the Lads – let’s at least give it a fight. Who knows? We could reach mid-May wondering how we managed another great escape.
