Well said, Jake

It is impossible not to be impressed by the commitment 2,000+ Sunderland fans have shown in their determination to be at the Priestfield stadium in Gillingham this evening.

Yes, we have a big support base in the south. It’s almost like a home game for hundreds of members of the London and SE branch of the SAFC Supporters’ Association. But I’ve seen social media messages from people in Sunderland, County Durham and Carlisle, talking about their journeys to Kent.

As we approach kickoff, please consider taking a glance at all we have done by way of Salut! Sunderland‘s build-up to the game:

Salut! Sunderland is written, illustrated and edited by - and principally for - supporters of Sunderland AFC. The site aims to be sufficiently literate and entertaining to appeal to people who do not follow SAFC but enjoy good football writing.

Great effort for a midweek game at the other end of the country. Should be a good atmosphere

Who on earth is responsible for the sheer stupidity of these midweek fixtures? 600 mile round trip if you live in the NE. AND THEN – do most of it again on Saturday. Although due to the paucity of tickets only one third of those at Gillingham will be at Wimbledon. Couldn’t we have had a double header at Barnsley and Doncaster?
