Forget our bleak midwinter …. happy Christmas all

SALUT! SUNDERLAND wishes all readers, contributors, sponsors and advertisers a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Thank you for your support …

It is difficult
to raise enough enthusiasm for something so trite as Guess the Score in a game most of us expect to lose and perhaps lose heavily.

But let’s try to keep the faith. There’s not much more Hope to be Unable to Stand and we’re all feeling pretty gloomy about our prospects, five points away from a position of safety already and a gap that seems certain to grow.

“What can Aston Villa possibly hope for in the new year to give them a chance of survival?” I heard words to that in a question posed on TalkSport and instantly thought of the answer: January 2.

Jake says: 'have a go'

Jake says: ‘have a go’

Sorry for being so downbeat. Sunderlands of recent, equally dismal seasons have gone to places like the Etihad and played out of their skins. Could we do it again on Boxing Day?

Have your say, It’s a rollover so that means two mugs from our sponsors, Personalised Football Gifts, to the first reader who comes up with the correct scoreline before kickoff.

This is how our version looks – with your name or a name of your choice as No 12 …

As always, we’ll do our best to ensure a mug of suitably altered design should a City fan enter and win. You must have a UK delivery address to qualify for the prize.

Monsieur Salut will be there to offer his own Ha’way the Lads and fears the worst but stands ready to be pleasantly surprised.

1 nil to Sunderland, and I am not drunk.

  2. Victor H Brown December 22, 2015 at 10:15 am #

Must be quick to be the first to predict a 3-2 win for Sunderland.

  3. vince December 22, 2015 at 10:29 am #

We need Catts back…3-1 to City…we seem to like that score lately

  4. William C December 22, 2015 at 10:43 am #

Mustering all my Christmas optimism I’m going for a draw. 1-1

  5. Bill December 22, 2015 at 10:48 am #

    0-0

History clearly states if Man City are to win the league they will drop 4 points to Sunderland this will result in a 2 2 draw and we will win at home

  7. Eric012 December 22, 2015 at 12:29 pm #

    2 – 1 to……………………………………………………………..SAFC.

  8. Phil D December 22, 2015 at 2:13 pm #

    Man City 2 Sunderland 0
We need to defend much better than we have done recently. Coates was poor at the weekend.

Coates is more than poor….HE”S CRAP WITH A CAPITAL CRAP!…….4-3 to the lads…

Now that Victor has nicked 3-2 to us I will have to settle for a 3-3 draw making us first on MOTD – I really need those mugs. Had a feel of all the Christmas pressies and there is not one amongst them.

  10. Mike December 22, 2015 at 10:31 pm #

2-0 to The Lads and a good run over the Christmas period.

  11. Malcolm Ray December 23, 2015 at 11:14 am #

we’ll try but go down fighting, 2-1 to city, all 3 points to stay in Manchester

  12. Gerry December 23, 2015 at 1:39 pm #

3-0 to City. No point in being optimistic. Mind knowing SAFC they will prove us all wrong and go & win

  13. David Jobling December 23, 2015 at 3:09 pm #

C’mon Santa give the lads a decent Xmas Pressie.
Another 3-1 score, but a fine Sunderland victory

  14. Robbo December 24, 2015 at 9:53 am #

I’m going with 4 -2 to SAFC with an excellent hattrick from Fabio.

    Merry Xmas everyone!

  15. Dennis December 24, 2015 at 1:59 pm #

4-3 to the Lads, and another pint please barman!

  16. Drummer December 26, 2015 at 8:49 am #

3-1 to City , can’t even muster the enthusiasm to dream anymore .

  17. salutsunderland December 28, 2015 at 9:58 am #

No one won. My heart said 2-1 to us on the way to Manchester but the head feared 4-0 or 5-0 so maybe I should be pleased.
