There IS a prize and you know what it is

Welcome once again to Salut! Sunderland‘s prize Guess the Score competition as Jack Ross takes the lads to the first of two games in quick succession at Bristol Rovers. Read on and you’ll see it is a special edition of the competition covering both matches.

This is being written before either the Accrington Stanley or Gillingham home ties – Monsieur Salut is away from Feb 16 to 23 inclusive – so you, the readers, are in a better position to judge how we are likely to fare at the Memorial Stadium.

Most of us enjoy a trip to Wembley so the return trip to the West Country for the Checkatrade Trophy semi-final on March 5 will be in many minds, too. The Bury-Pompey semi takes place a week earlier so we will know who we’d face in the final.

But getting out of League One must take priority and with the business end of the season looming, wins instead of draws are essential if we are to retain hopes of avoiding the playoffs.

You may enter your prediction for the league game alone – or have a go at guessing the outcome of both matches.

In the case of the cup tie, there will be no extra time. Feel free to say how penalties would go if needed but the winning entry will be the first to guess the score at 90 minutes.

Get both results right before anyone else and Monsieur Salut will try to come up with something more than a mug as the prize.

Ha’way the Lads. Twice over.

    3-1 to the Lads….and for a nice Portsmouth-Barnsley draw…we’re scoring goals again…..hoorah

  4. Phil D February 20, 2019 at 11:15 pm #

2-1 to the lads. No clean sheet.

    • Phil D February 23, 2019 at 3:35 pm #

2-1 in both matches. Still no clean sheet.

    How about a game of
How many changes will he make to the starting line up
Who will be cb pairing? Is the turkish bramble about to get another chance to display his incomparable skills of making the collective fans ar5e fall out with his circus like football? The thought of dunne and ozturk playing together will certaily have the purists salivating.
How many soft goals will we concede due to rank positioning and players looking like complete strangers?
Oh I know will JR refer to the pressure of the role in his post match conference?

Now that grigg has cast the monkey from his back is it time for wyke to remove king kong from his back?
Will o9 be dropped again for no logical reason?

Yes good old jacka55 certainly provides food for thought for those who want consistency, discipline and nice football….for a change

      And your score predictions are????????????

For a start Ozturk is Dutch. Secondly there is no logic in what you post on here and elsewhere. What kind of person is it who gets pleasure (I assume you do) from just posting the same repetitive twaddle in the hope of winding others up? Perhaps you need something else to interest you as you obviously have too much time on your hands and nothing constructive with which to fill it. May I recommend you read the collected works of Doctor John Cooper-Clarke. There’s one particular poem which I feel you could identify with.

And why is it every now and then you let the mask slip and forget to misspell words?

  6. CSB February 21, 2019 at 7:32 am #

Sunderland 4 – 1 Opposition, for both games.

  7. malcolm February 21, 2019 at 9:10 am #

I have a theory about Brian. She is a 24 year old PhD student from Jesmond, researching the effect that internet trolling has on the mindset of bloggers and their followers, and the types of responses her rambling and illiterate tirades can ellicit.

Note how the majority of her postings are full of mistakes, yet every now and then, apart from the odd missing capital letter, they are literate, even if they don’t make any sort of rational sense.

Please let us know if your tutor is impressed with your research so far Bryony – I doubt if you have been anywhere near a Sunderland game. If you really believe what you purport to say then you’d be mental to spend good money each week going to watch a team you obviously have no time for.

Don’t forget Thursday is cheap Vodka night in the Students’ Union bar.

Before anyone gets in and uses “my” banker score…..
It will be 4-3 each game. Just a pity I can’t get there to watch after my near miss on Tuesday!

  9. Paul February 21, 2019 at 10:33 am #

Against the odds of yet another draw, 2-0 to Sunderland.

    • Paul February 23, 2019 at 5:12 pm #

      Apologies, Colin.

      • wrinkly pete February 23, 2019 at 8:53 pm #

Well done Paul. Proper reward for your courage!

  10. Bill February 21, 2019 at 2:58 pm #

    0-3 to the lads

  11. Mike February 21, 2019 at 8:10 pm #

The Lads to win both games 4-2, think we’ve found our scoring boots.

  12. Mel Bond February 22, 2019 at 5:24 pm #

The eternal optimist says would love 2 clean sheets but will go for five one to the lads in both 5-1
